What's the rule regarding putting out on a temporary green?

I shot my best round ever last week a 76 (5 over par) playing off 22, yes I know it's a bit mad.

Anyway I was wondering if I could take another shot off it.
The final hole had a temporary green due to work being carried out on the proper green.
It was a par 4 and I hit my 4th shot from off the green to 6 inches which was conceded so I marked it down as a 5.
However I'm not sure I need to count the last shot as somebody said you only have to get it within one club length of the hole for it to be considered holed.
    Any thoughts?

5 over par off 22 !!!!. Exactly what part of Mexico are you from....???
Thats 53 s/ford points.. never heard the like of it. No gimmies allowed.
Hole everything out. That so called rule with regard to it been considered
holled if within a club lenght is horse manure... best advise.. buy a rule book.. they are cheap and you can afford it after cleaning out you mates at the weekend.

76 nett, 98 Gross - right? Would be well short of 53 points

I would presume that the one club length thing is that if you get the ball inside this distance, the next shot is conceded. However, that's only a guess...
For it to be a proper competition, I doubt that such a 'rule' is allowed, certainly in any qualifying strokeplay type event.

    And shooting 76 off 22....gross?

    No, it's 54 nett, 76 gross.

I had got down to 16 3/4 years ago when I was playing regularly but the arrival of 2 small children meant I've only played 2/3 rounds each year for the last few years. This was only my 2nd round of the year and my last round was in April.
I played a 2nd round that day and grossed 92 but I wasn't really concentrating as I knew after 2 holes that I wouldn't better the mornings effort!

    54 nett, leave it so.
If it was qualifying, you'll lose about 7 shots off that handicap.
    My head hurts.

Was it in a competition? What course were you playing.

This was in London , a course called Stockley Park, near Heathrow.
It was a works day out , a Ryder cup type event , England Vs ROW, we whupped the english 11 - 4.

    lol, serious shooting today.

That being said my playing partner was +3 for nine from 20 today, although duly rectified it on the back nine.

54 Stableford points is ridiculous though.

Yes you have to count it as a 5, again it's a local rule and generally speaking it means when you get to within 1 club length it's considered to be holed out on your next stroke. e.g you drive the same temp green to within a club length, so you got a 2 on that hole not 1.
