Spotted a gardai speed camera setup on the n2 ashbourne bypass northbound.
Unsurprisingly it was on the straightest section of the road!

    Static or GATSO?

I'm up and down that road everyday and haven't noticed anything, unless you're talking about the one that's on the southbound lane about 1 mile north of the roundabout/Mariott Hotel?

The speed cameras are still up on the old N2 road.

    How sceptical of you!!
Its common knowledge that the best way to stop car accidents is to prevent people from driving fast on long wide stretches of road with good visability. That way they can make up time by driving faster on the bendy sections where they know there are no speed checks. This has always proved successful in this country, just look at the figures for road deaths

For anyone who uses the old N2 Ashbourne to Finglas road, be aware that the limit on it is now 60KPH, not sure if its the whole lenght of it or just certain sections, but the wife only noticed the signs recently near the Coolquay lodge.
