I've attached the entry forms and last year's averages. This is the closest we have to an all-island postal match, so the more entries the merrier...

Definitely, short of travelling to Bisley it's probably the most shooters you'll get to compete against anywhere near here.

Since it's broken up into divisions (23 last year for 25yd and 5 for 50m) there's scope for people of all abilities. The winner of Division 1 last year had an average of 99.1 and the winner of Division 23 had an average of 90.8.

The only catch is the lack of ranges for the 25yd competition. There's DURC and RRPC and DURC can't let in non-members. :(

    50m as well

Hmm, might enter the lowest division of this. Should be fun.

You get allocated a division according to your certified average. You can't just pick one.

Conor, I think we'll all be in Division 5 this year looking at the averages.

You just tell them your average and the organisers place you in an appropriate division.

Would need to take a mortgage to cover the cost of posting!

Can you not find a local club that the UCESSA will accept as a scorer? That way you don't have to post to N.I., same as shooters down here don't have to anymore. You post to your local scorer (or just shoot the match in the local club and leave the cards in), they score and email the scores back. Hell, every NSRA club in the UK does things that way...

Presuming that your cards fit inside the dimensions 353mm x 250mm x 25mm and weigh less than 750g (they should) then 1st class post will cost you 52p from the UK.

I think you have to trim the cards to the trim lines to fit them in an A4/foolscap envelope, but since you can shoot the rounds in advance, you could just choose to post twice (five rounds at a time).

There are a good few UK and IOM clubs shoot in the winter league, so you could do as Sparks says and get a scorer closer to you. On the other hand there's no difference in postage costs to NI then there is to the rest of the UK, so it's pretty irrelevant really.

Will look into it - though it will feel weird not shooting for DURC!

Ah go on ye big jessie ye :)
Besides, you know how it's a lot harder in this sport to come back from cold than from even a much reduced rate while you're away. Get out of the habit and there's always something that keeps you from returning. Trust me :D

Nothing stopping you entering as a DURC competitor. Who says you have to shoot for the club you're in over in the UK? ;)

Well, other than the UK club themselves who might think ill of it I suppose...

Like hell I am paying that graduate fee!!

Might have to lower my average though - don't want to be in a division I can't get some silverware! (I joke)

You could alway shoot for Rathdrum :)

    Thats what I was planning

I thought you had to pay the graduate fee to use club facilities, not to shoot on behalf of the club in a match...

You can't be a member of the club without the grad fees, and I can't shoot for DURC if I am not a member.

I am an 'honorary' member of Aberdeen (as I shot for them once) but that was a once off and probably won't work again!

Nothing in the rules that I recall about honorary members of DURC - hell, our president (when it was Terry) certainly never joined up...
The rules are about people who shoot in DURC, as in on it's range with it's kit. Those we can't get around. People shooting in a match while in the UK under our name, I'm pretty sure that's not actually covered...

Hmmm.. can I shoot for both DURC and RRPC? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,038 ✭✭✭✭Sparks

I think that one is down to the UCESSA :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,244 ✭✭✭rrpc

Actually the decision will be down to where you submit the cards. Remember that each club is given a scorer and the targets for the club are to be sent there.

In Rathdrum's case last year, because we were emailing 'cards' we had a specific scorer who only dealt with ours. There's nothing to say he couldn't be posted the cards, but you couldn't send cards to two scorers.

I'll prob shoot for RRPC* - unless DURC me a better offer!

*I want to get some value for money out of that hefty membership fee!

Yeah, put me down for the team as well. You can see my average* on the score sheet Sparks attached.
