I have an iTouch with software 2.0. I can access the store but I cannot login. I have registered on the site, and got a username and password, but when they ask me to input my serial number, it is not recognised.

It then asks for the marketing number but will not proceed with this either
    What should I do?

    Site? Serial number? Marketing number?

To download apps on your iTouch, you have to have a username and password from: https://register.apple.com/

I can register but it will not recognise my serial number

Can I contact Apple to fix this?

Indeed, an iTunes account should do the job. Apple don't like my serial numbers either ;)

Yeah sign in on the Ireland iTunes store while your iPod Touch is in the dock.
