Any truth in this Loughnane to Wicklow story? What have people heard? Would certainly be a big test, but Ger wouldn't be one to shirk a challenge.

that would be great for the game...we need more big name managers going to the lesser teams...i think dublin really need a big name coach, maybe english or donal o grady??!!

Haven't heard anything about this one, but if its true id be surprised.
Then again maybe Ballymore properties are involved. They managed to "entice" Micko to Wicklow, so maybe same for Ger.
Any good hurlers from Carlow, Kildare, Laois etc might just happen to be making a move to Wicklow sometime soon, if this happens.

I just posted this on the Ger Loughnane thread!:D

I'd love to see him in the Garden. He does put a bit of fight into his sides, although Galway should've beaten Cork at the weekend.

Anyway, Wicklow are actually doing alright at the mo. AFAIK, they came close to promotion in the league.

They were in the final of the league last year, but got hammered against Laois. Unfortunate, as it was the first game they lost all season, including beting Laois in the earlier stages.

But God, Loughnane and Micko managers of our inter-county team....not bad I must say. There are some decent hurlers here, they prob just need someone to guide them in a more focussed manner and they may be able to go that bit further.

    And Micko lives in Waterville!

Doubt there is any substance to this really. Looks like he's giving Galway another crack anyway. Mitchel has taken Wicklow as far as he can I think. Disappointing for them last Saturday. They were on the verge of something great.

A high profile manager would reignite hurling in Wicklow though. Would be great to see happen there and in other counties at that level.
