... and tell us why you like it. ... with examples?

When I'm out at night I prefer all of the new club dance music that's been produced in the past few years ; The likes of what's been released by Benny Benassi, The Vinylshakerz, Fonzerelli, Eric Prydz and David Guetta.. somethin' to dance to.
However in general I predominantly listen to trance music.. preferably vocal trance and deep house/hypnotic dance. I don't like boring monotonous repetitive trance that too much of is produced on a whim and for that reason I hate progressive trance. I usually prefer trance music to be ambient and not give me a pain in my head when I'm lyin' in bed, lazyin' on the couch, sitting on a bus or in a car, and so on.. The track has to be meaningful and symbolize something... and yes, I'm incredibley picky and critical. :)

    1) Gouryella - Walhalla
All of Gouryella's four tracks are pretty good but I like this one the most. I think it's an amazing example of expressive, nostalgic trance that needs no lyrics to convey emotion. (Hate the vocal version :P)

    2) Ferry Corsten feat. Howard Jones - Into The Dark
Beautiful lyrics, compelling voice. Holds attention. I've listened to this maybe a million times now.

    3) Kyau&Albert - Are You Fine
Melodic and with another compelling voice. Lacking lyrics but not lacking substance. Desperation and emotional dependance.

    4) Qatarra - Come With Me
The epitome of the relaxing ambient trance that I like. Amazing voice.

    5) BT (Feat. JC Chasez) - Force Of Gravity (Album Version)
Not enough people know of this song. Again, beautiful lyrics, captivating voice, deep hypnotic backing beat (not so much on youtube after compression). Emotional. Starts slow, quickly speeds up. Changing throughout. The original from the album 'Emotional Technology' is the best version. Tiesto and Ferry ruined it afterwards by turning it into another head-banger tune.

    6) Slusnik Luna - Sun
Tribal trance can be amazing and can be dreadful. This is amazing.. as is Slusnik Luna - Spirits. That is all.

    7) Larry Heard - Time
I didn't post any deep house yet so I thought I'd post this. Larry Heard, deep house legend. Ambient, relaxing, hypnotic, laid back, put you to sleep.

    I think I've written enough now. :D

Border Community stuff, James Holden, Nathan Fake, Extrawelt etc.

Guess it could be described as part minimal techno part intelligent dance.

no not really my point.i just like all types of house music.its pretty limiting to say i only listen to a certain style of an all encompassing name like trance or house.
when i play i play whatever i like the sound of.if someone asks me what i play i say house.

Mainly ambient too, and also a lot of dub techno. No end to the amount of amazing releases past and present in ambient. Also got into more recently some of the modern classical releases.

Picked this up today and only a few minutes in but sounding good so far, very chilled and trippy, more so than ever maybe for FSOL.

Also on an oldskool techno buzz again at the moment and listening to a lot on Tresor, DJAX, R&S etc.

    Spacetime Continuum - Kairo

Nice selection there, was just listening last night to the remixes album of Spacetime Continuum, the Carl Craig remix of Kairo is excellent.

    http://www.discogs.com/release/61539

Another I'm loving now actually is 'A Users Guide' by Ultramarine, missed it back when originally released but it's available again from Warpmart, brilliant album.

    http://www.discogs.com/release/66920

The new album from B12 is excellent too and worth waiting 12 years!

    http://www.discogs.com/release/1351325

Also the latest Black Dog album from a few months ago is amazing...

    http://www.discogs.com/release/1269144

The 4CD set of reissues from Gas is excellent, great chilling music...

    http://www.discogs.com/release/1363736

Just picked up 'Lifestyles of the Laptop Cafe' too by The Other People Place... great album. On a hunt now for all else Drexiya related...

    http://www.discogs.com/release/24238

Finally for now, the recent Basic Channel 'BCD2' with full versions of old tunes (unlike the first CD which had bleedin edits!)

I'm into little bits of lots of genres, but generally it's more emotional stuff.... "Emo-Electro" if such a thing exists! I'm not even sure what genres some songs fit into as I don't really care! Some examples:

    Burial - Etched Headplate (Dubstep)

Gabba Front Berlin - Lacrima Mosa Est (Speedcore)

Gabriel & Dresden - Dangerous Power (don't know... techno, trance?)

    Electro House FTW

I listen to a lot of different types of electronic music so its impossible to just pick one genre, and anyway, as people are always so concerned with making up new genres to start the "next big thing" that the lines become blurred. In years gone by this was what electro sounded like, but now people call Justice, Boyz Noise etc electro....Nobody knows what's what any more!

My main interest is techno - particularly the Detroit sounds - UR, Red Planet, Metroplex, Harmonie Park, Soultech, Ultradyne etc.

I also listen to a lot of Dutch electro, such as stuff on Clone, Bunker, Frustrated Funk, Creme.

If I'm chilling out at home I'll listen to Squarepusher, AFX and various other ambient tunes.

I also listen to some drum and bass, dubstep, hip-hop....basically what ever I feel like at a certain moment. Varity is the spice of life!

Dito on the techno and especially detroit techno too... did you see Model 500 are playing at the DEAF festival in October? And Star Dancer on Red Planet is one of the best ever tunes!

Also, well worth checking this out if you haven't already...

I must check that out. A lot of the releases on AW-Recordings are quality and well worth picking up.

I can't wait for the Model 500 gig already, and its still 3 months away! As far as I know Mike Banks is playing with Atkins so thats a real heavyweight lineup. Star Dancer is good alright but Skypainter is probably the best tune on Red Planet....an absolute gem.

Yeah I've picked up a few other 12"s alright on AW, quality stuff. His album is excellent too, 'Path of the Gods'

    http://www.discogs.com/release/869445

Must listen to Skypainter again so, doesn't stick out in my head for some reason the way Star Dancer does... could be that Star Dancer was the first 12" I bought on Red Planet all those years ago, picked up the rest in Hard Wax only about 5 or 6 years ago.

Yeah the DEAF Festival should be excellent, looking forward to Vladislav Delay too, very experimental but love his stuff.
