Asthma Inhalers - allowed on board?

We are planning to travel with hand luggage-only (a la RyanAir) next week, and it just struck me that our daughter's asthma inhalers might not be either allowed on board or might they expel their contents due to the changing pressure in the cabin?

Take them on board with you, do not put them in the hold or they may get lost.

I have asthma and I usually bring my inhalers onboard... I don't think that there should be a prob... just double check incase though!.. You might need to declare them, like get a doc note

There's no problem with inhalers and they won't expel anything while travelling. If you are concerned you could bring the box with the printout from the chemist on it, just in case.

There will be absolutely no problem at all with taking them on board.

All you will have to do is put them through the scanner with your keys/ moblie phone becasue they are metal and will set off the walk through detector.

I always take my two inhalers with me in my carryon always while travelling. I take my gas inhaler (Seretide Preventative) and my powder inhaler (Ventodisk releiver for attacks). I just leave them in the carry on with my sunglasses, ipod etc. I never had any trouble with them and have being flying for over 16 years.

The only time I ever heard of trouble with inhalers was when my sister had one in her handbag a few years back while attending the US Embassey in Dublin for an interview before getting a J1 Student Visa to the US for the summer. She got grilled to know what it was and why she had it with her. They do bag searches and have airport like security at the US Embassey.

Never had any problems taking Ventolin inhalers in hand luggage - these days I put it in the clear plastic bag with liquids etc and sent it through the scanners seperately just in case.

There is really no need to be seperateing out everything into those extra bags, they are only required for any liquid items that you may be carrying. They will spot the metal canister on the xray machine and instantly know what it is without it being in a clear bag.
