I'm looking for some serious guidance here!! I am putting in black windows in my house and have no idea what kind of window boards to use. The internal doors are probably going to be walnut, so do I match that or do I just use painted boards to maybe lighten up the dark windows?? Also where do I actually get them, the window providers say they only do teak window boards, which wont match, so where do I go???? Living in the Galway area. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:o

I have black windows aswell and I used ordinary red deal window boards, was originally planning to paint them but then decided to varnish them to see how they would look and I really liked it .The biggest advantage of using cheaper timber is I can paint them later if I change my mind but at the moment I'm very happy with the way they turned out. Btw I used just clear varnish (mid-sheen I think).

what timber/colour are you skirting & architraves? it would be closer to match them.
window boards can be got in any builders providers, but be careful if your getting expensive ones because some builders can be very rough with them

Thanks for the help, havent decided on skirting, hoping for walnut, but have to see when the house is plastered if there is enough light! Otherwise it'll be painted. Have been told that walnut window boards are seriously expensive so my other half wants to get red deal and stain them, would this be a good alternative??? I know they look good varnished, but stained to look like walnut?? I dont know!
