Which do people think is better - fta or freesat. The freesat one seems better because of the 7day epg but is that really the only difference?
I what to ditch ntl and get free tv but want to hold on to irish channels. What is the way to go? Can I just plug in the old rabbits ears to one of these boxes? Can anyone make any recommendations on a box?

Freesat has less channels but in the future may have the iPlayer on some boxes. Also freesat will have some freesat exclusive channels.

Rabbits ears or a big aerial - do NTL still do analogue in your area. RTE might be on it?

RTE is not on the UK freesat service and is unlikely to be in the future. Most of the Irish channels should be available terrestrially in most areas but you will need a cable or satellite subscription for the likes of Ch 6 or Setanta Ireland.

So will I be able to plug in an ariel to a freesat box or will I just have to switch to irish channels using tv - ie tv remote as apposed to freesat remote control? Know what I mean?

You will pick up the Irish channels independently of the Freesat box through the TV directly if you get these channels terrestrially. No combined box at present.

If you only get them through the analogue cable then they will go when you cancel. However, check to see if you can get them through an aerial.

Obvously, ch6 can only be got through a subscription.

Is it? How hard can it be to press number one on your remote to get RTÉ One?

well it means getting up - looking for tv remote - not being able to see whats on irish stations without going into teletext- so yea in my opinion is is a pain in the butt.
