    Hi All,
Just a quick question on warmups. I've been playing around with different training, trainign times and session over the past few months . I've foud a few things.

About 2-3 hours after any long slow run or a shorter run I#m feeling really great, I know its a great feeling doing a run but I decided to try something out. On sunday I went for a short slow run of 3 miles at 4 pm . Then again at 7pm I went out again, The run at 7 was prob my best run of the year I was flowing much better , leg turnover seems to be better, and the pace was better.

Has anyonw ever looked at this type of warmup for a race, I know for AM races I would be hard.

    Shels,
Yes for midday or afternoon races we would always go for a ~3 mile easy jog in the morning before breakfast. I'm not too sure what the science is behind it as it's just something we do now. I think I remember being told it gets the blood flowing and opens up the lungs and capillaries of the body.
Maybe someone can shed some more light on it.

Absolutely nothing wrong with an easy run like that before another run or long warm ups and warm downs not to forget. I remember when I was younger and doing a session with the seniors of 4 x 1 mile and them doing a 2 mile warm up and warm down. Thought they were crazy at first, but after a few sessions it can build up alot of strenght and stamina.

Cool sessions, did something like that in rahney years back too, ran down form the club house ot the beach front for sessions of 1500m.. those were the days... run back used to kill me .

I have noticed when I have done a BHAA race on a Saturday and then an IMRA hill race on Sunday that I usually felt and performed better on the hill run.

Albeit a days difference it follows a bit on your theory Shels! Must be a moral there somewhere!

Well today i did a 2 mile run at 4 pm , then went to the race in Rahney at 8pm . Ran 25 seconds faster then my best this year... but on the other hand there were a good few pb's run tonight, so conditions were better...
