Java media player

    I was thinking of doing a project over the summer before heading back to college. Long story short I came up with the idea of a media player i.e playing audio and video files. I had a look at the JMF (Java Media Framework) but it seems outdated and a bit rubbish.

    My question is, has anyone else done something like this before? Or could someone point me in the right direction as to how to go about it?
