    Hey guys

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing the delay in receiving your social claims.I'm in Cork.

I applied for job seekers benefit on the 16th of june(had to go back on 20th cos i forgot my passport). they said between 4-6 weeks.i kno the full 6 weeks isn't up yet.

I was going to ring them but don't want to hassle them.
Just wondering if others are in the same boat?

    thanks

Yea there defo is a back log i was told 7-8 weeks. I applied around the first of June got a call from them last week, saying they werent going to pay  (was trying to claim for all of may which i spent looking for work and just a week after i went into them i got a job.. anyway thats a whole other story).

Im in Dublin, also around that time there was industrial action going on in the social offices , dont know if that was country wide or just dublin, which along with a hugh increase in people applying caused a big back log. Dont know if there is still industrial action going on.

They told me if i was really stuck i could get onto my local authority (cant remember excatly who, maybe the local health board) and they can give you money and claim it back from the social welfare... sounded like way to much hassel for me, but id imagine that theres a lot of people out there really strugling to get by during the 'backlog'.

Get onto your health board asap. They are the ones who do emergency payments especially when your waiting on your claim to be processed.
