Summer Jumping

While I don't have any hugely informed or hard views I can't help but wonder about the wisdom of it, all the serious stuff over timber happens in the dark six months and so summer race cards featuring chase and hurdles are pretty low rent for the most part (rather like some of the AW in winter). There is also the obvious safety concern with hard surfaces at some meets meaning injuries to horse and rider will be more severe (albeit it not this summer maybe)

Is it about economics, better to be keep turnover up even if quality suffers?

    Mike.

Same reason Rugby is played mainly in Winter. Hard ground makes for harder falls and more wear and tear on the horses over rules. And obviously enough, fast ground is better for speed horses hence the flat season runs through the summer.
