broke the sreen but cant get the laptop to go though external display.
on start up it will for a min then switch it off the external display. and i cant see anything to change it. the only part of the screen i can see is the top left. so i know its on. cant get the BIOS started before windows start up. as this should work with the external display and the laptops.
but can the display settings be changed in the BIOS any way on start up of windows? last but not least can i if could get the cables hook the laptop hard drive to my desk top and go in though that and change the display settings? any info would be great and if i solve it will post up how i done it ok thanks

Have you tried using the function key combinations to switch between modes - LCD only / LCD + monitor / Monitor only?

What's happening is that the bios recognizes the external display on startup but when windows runs, it is configured to only display on the LCD.

If you have it setup already then you could possibly use remote desktop alos to get into the machine.

times like this it pays to have a clone machine by your side. get another machine to windows etc and copy every mouse gesture keypress etc you make on one machine and translate it to the other. Just so you can enter the display settings and try and see if you can set the external as your primary.

 DONT HAVE ANOTHER LAPTOP TO DO THE SAME KEYS ETC.
AS THE DESKTOP DOESNT HAVE THE SAME OPTIONS FOR DISPLAY
ONE THING I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT IS. IF I WAS ABLE TO GET A CABLE TO HOOK THE HARD DRIVE UP TO MY DESK TOP COULD I CHANGE THE WINDOW SETTINGS FROM THERE? AND NEXT ONE CAN I GET SAID CABLE?
