    First one isn't bad, although it might gain if you add some contrast and saturation.

    PS. I just received a msg on flickr in relation to my Kilmainham Gaol photo as it has been shortlisted for inclusion in the fifth edition of our Schmap Dublin Guide, to be published mid-August 2008.

    Yeah, I like yours. I think you got lucky with a darker day. There is a lot of light in that place. I think yours might also be in a different wing than mine.

    Way too bright.

    With the right proccessing the third one could be very atmospheric, a little darker and maybe a wee bit of vignette......

    'Love this jail'...very eerie & full of history. Ur photo's are fab. The religious paintng through the spy hole is my favourite.
    I'm a decsendent of William & Patrck Pearse who were executed in Kilmainham, by the British, after the uprising .
    They never found Patricks grave..........deep!:p

    The first one in b&w, turn up the contrast and dim the brightness maybe??

    The b/w conversion of #1 is ok but its very flat - it does remind me of b/w's of an era not that long gone.

    I think #1 and #4 have great potential for a little processing;

    my suggestion ;

    add lots of contrast, a little over exposure in the middle and vignette the edges.

    Hope you don't mind - i've played with your original and attach here to see what you think.

    Even just bumping the contrast will give a lovely result ( eh.... ps - i'm going through a contrast phase at the moment :D )

    pps - i'm not very good at post processing as you can see so don't worry if you don't like it at all..... i won't be offended.

    Being honest, 2&3 do nothing for me. There's just (imo) nothing interesting about it,nothing that catches the eye, or makes the composition interesting. It's a kind of thing that makes me go 'so what, could have been taken anywhere..' It's a photo without a story, or anything really to give it some impact.

    I'd say you've got something with 1&4, there's a decent composition, something to work with, and something that could look good after good post processing.

    /edit: sorry if this just sounds like im being a <insert your favourite bad word here>. Long tiring day :(

    I quite like the b&w actually, it perhaps could be a bit more contrasty to be more dramatic.

    Nice work :)
