HDMI resolution questions

I'm planning ahead for my next monitor to buy next year. I currently use a 20" Dell with VGA. I'm wondering if I upgrade to a HDMI enabled 360, what is the biggest resolution it supports and hence what will be the biggest monitor I'll get benefit from. I saw a deal on a Dell 27" monitor. Would I be able to get full use out of a monitor this size?

What are peoples experiences with HDMI Vs VGA on larger monitors?

    Thanks :)

the trasference of data shouldn't matter,

if the 27" supports 1080p then you should be laughing. But I'd be sceptical about it having a hdmi input on it since it's a quasi professional product and hdmi is, for the moment, a domestic standard.
VGA is fine for 1080p, if it ain't broke don't fix it

theres no rule about wanting a bigger screen though, saw that dell actually its a pretty good deal! Ive got the 30" but I only use it as a pc monitor, never worked with the 360 the time I tried!
