Buying DS in the States...

Apologies if this has been posted before, I couldn't find it! Is it ok to buy a DS in the states? I know they are a lot cheaper, but is there any problem with compatibility with Irish games? I know the charger will be different, but am I likely to run into any other difficulties?

Also, has anyone bought one in the states recently? What could I expect to pay for the console/games?

    Many thanks in advance!

hi got one in march, worked out about 100 euro (think it was about 129 dollars), imagine it would be cheaper now with the exchange rate. games are much cheaper, 20-40 dollars. the charger isnt an issue, you can buy one in game for 10euro here. no compatibility issues with games either. if you choose not to buy a charger you will need a power converter, so save hassle just buy an irish charger in game.

Bought one there last month - $129 for the DS, and games range from about $25 to $35 for games on special offers, and $40 - $45 for brand new games.

Enjoy.. don't bother shopping for special offers / bundles. Price is fixed everything (except for those small back-alley shops).

Thanks for the super speedy replies. That's a great help. One last thing, I presume that Nintendo offer an International warranty if you run into problems?

    Nope, they don't specifically.

But I've had a problem with my DS and they ** somewhat ** agreed to fix it.. by that, I mean they were willing to at first but are now ignoring any follow-up e-mails.

    Utter sh*te support!

you can buy an international warranty with best buys for 20-30 dollars as far as i can remember, it covers you for 2 years i think,

That's why there's a sticky called, er, "Will a foreign DS work over here and is the DS region free?"
