Graphics Card 9800GTX or 4870 ?!

I'm torn between getting a 9800GTX or what I would not have considered up until yesterday ATI 4870

Everything I'm reading is telling me the 4870 is much better and is really to be compared with the new NVidia 280, plus it's € 100 less than the 9800 ?!

Is this right ?!, or am I the victim of marketing.....

Also my motherboard is SLI capable, no issue having a single ATI card I presume !!

Forget about 9800gtx, its gettting beat by €140 HD4850.

If you want to go sli get Gtx 260 ( bit slower than 4870, like 7% and bit more expensive)

Rule for moment is

24"+ = GTX 280 or Sli/Crossfire
20 - 22" = 4870/GTX 260
19" Below = 4850

I know waiting isn't fun but the ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2
seems to be the one to beat, probably be out mid-August and cost between €300 - €350 if you are willing to spend that much

eh, I have a 28" Hanns-G monitor 1900 x 1200 resolution, are you saying that the 4870 won't be any use ?!

I'm running an 8800GTS 320MB, I only just got the 28", having previously been on 19"

What do you think about that monitor btw? I saw lots of great reviews, I was very tempted to buy it when HWV had it for 400 euro but its over 500 euro now

The 4870 can play any game at this resolution at max settings except maybe Crysis going by all the reviews. Than again I dont think a graphics card exists that can play Crysis at max settings at a high resolution and get consistant 30+ fps.

Bottom line, I'd get the 4870.

Thats the one, nope, no dead pixels , quality is stunning, I have a 19" monitor that I bought last year that I had thought was good quality, but beside the hannsg it's appears dull.

I bought the 4870 yesterday from Dabs.ie, thanks for the advice lads
