how to go about booking an inexpensive holiday?

I may have a few weeks off in August but all holidays to resorts in spain/grece/algarve/malta etc are at least 900 for 7 days for 2 people.

I know from talking to other folk that they have been to places like malta or salou for way less than that for 7 days.

is august just a bad time or how do you find an inexpensive holiday?

From my experience €900 for 1 week for 2 people is pretty good value, especially in August, with it being peek holiday time throughout Europe.

I'd imagine your only hope of getting something cheaper, is to be able to travel within the space of 48 hrs. If you can do this, just spend every day checking out the different online sites.

    Hope you get sorted :)

Try a few low cost airline websites and see where they go cheaply in August, then pick a destination.

If you stay in a self-catering apartment instead of a hotel/resort it can be a lot cheaper. Just Google the destination name and "accomodation" will bring up a number of local and international self-catering rental websites.
