Captain Caveman makes a run for it

    More caveman malarkeys today.

It was a low spring tide and I decided to make a run for it along the tidal platforms below the white rocks cliffs. I needed to run further than I'd ever been before, on to the very last cave of the Cathedral Cave section. A race against the tide.

    So,
I climbed down the descent gully,
    scrambled round the headland,
    ambled through cathedral cave,
    waded through the priest's hole,
climbed through two more connecting caves,
jumped the deep channel at the Ace of Spades cave
and on along the tidal platforms...

And I arrived at the cave that connects this series to the Mayor's Cave which I photographed last week from the other side.

These first two show the connecting cave,

Now look carefully at the shot of the Mayor's cave I took last week. At the back of this cave you cave see the triangular entrance to this connecting cave (a cave within a cave you could say). A sneaky way in to see the Mayor.

    Top stuff as always andy!

The water in the third one looks beautiful almost unreal.

There is almost a feeling of motion about the second one, kind of like in a scifi movie when the spaceship goes into warp speed....
    waded through the priest's hole,
    :D

I never saw Indy in speedos and a pair of Nike's.

    But maybe not far away.

I've been to Downpatrick Head this week - that would be the final destination for you :-)

However - excellent work with explorations and photographs. Keep on going and stay safe, please.

    Cheers guys,

Balfey, I mostly use my 14mm prime lens (on APS sensor). This is pretty wide (about 90degrees) to get as much of the cave into view as possible.

I plan to get a fisheye shortly which will give me up to 180 degree views of these caves.

    Andy
