I couldn't see mention of a start time on the website.

    Can you clarify?

    Thanks

    Hi Trihard,

What's the plan going to be if the water quality is not up to standard, as seems to be the case for the Focus Tri this weekend. Will the race be cancelled altogether?

    Thanks

Hey Niall, the aquathon will be most definitely going ahead. We are fully aware of the issues faced by Focus ireland and the race this weekend (August Bank Holiday) and indeed working / involved with Waterways Ireland on this.

As of now the race (Dublin Docklands Aquathon) is still planned for the Grand Canal and further testing will be done between now and the 17th August. If it so happens that we are faced with the same situation; we have an alternative venue sourced for the race which is no more that a mile / two from the Grand Canal.

Apologies for not giving more details as of now, but once we have the final bits and pieces in place, we will be revelaing all. Simple message is that the Dublin Docklands Aquaton is most certainly going ahead.

The Dublin Docklands Aquathon is still planned for the Grand Canal but further testing will be done between now and the 14th August to determine the safety of the water.

If it so happens that we are faced with the same situation as Focus Ireland (03rd Aug); we have an alternative venue arranged for the race which is 5 miles from the Grand Canal.

All information on the alternative venue is on http://www.aquathon.ie/Aqua_info.html (see August 06th news item) with accompanying race map. With the provisional course, the aquathon will become a 750m sea swim with a 5km run.
