Hi folks, just wondering has anyone on here attended the chi-running course which Cathriona McKernan runs in Castleknock?
I have read a lot of positives about this technique, however it would be great to hear from people on hear who might have attended.
    Thanks in advance,b.

    Hi,
I attended a Chi Running clinic here in Galway. I have to say I found it excellent. Caitriona is very good and the course is worth while. I have found it a lot easier to maintain my times with a lot less effort since completing the course. Plus, 1 year on I have not had any injuries. Granted I am not a huge runner but I have to say I would recommend it.

My Dads an avid runner, been at it 25 years, he says it made the biggest difference anything has made to his running ever. He says it helps prevent injuries also because the aim is to 'roll' (?) over the land instead of stamp with ever step... ??

Yes amazing, she is one of the nice people too. 10 years ago when i was training for a marathon she used to use the same park to train in. Passed me a few times and would always say hello or something, had a few chats after runs . Really nice person and I would have love her to get the world cross country Gold , It would have been fitting.

I went on the course in Castleknock a few months ago and found it very interesting and well worth while. It's a very different style of running to what I was doing, so it's taking a bit of getting used to, but I haven't been injured (yet) since being on the course.

    I sent off for information a few weeks ago;
Thanks for your email enquiring about ChiRunning workshops. I conduct these
workshops at the Castleknock Hotel. The individual classes that I do are
with people who have already taken part in a ChiRunning workshop and come
back for a refresher class. The one day workshops start at 10am and finish
at 4.30pm and costs 150 euro including lunch. I take 10 people in each
class and I video-tape everyone at the start to see their style of running.
Then we go inside and we go through the ChiRunning form focuses through a
    series of drills and exercises.

This takes about 2 hours and then we go outside for an easy relaxed run
where I talk the group through one focus at a time, so as people can get the
feel of good mechanics in their body. We stop and start during the run and
I keep to group together, so as no one feels under pressure.

Then we have lunch and after lunch we analysis the video-tape and I pick out
what people may need to change to help make their running more efficient and
    injury free.

We cover a few more aspects of the ChiRunning technique, and have a
questions and answers session and I show the group some body loosening
    exeercises to do before running.

We finish off the day with an easy run on the car park in front of the Hotel
and this gives people an opportunity to practice under my watchful eye.

It is a most enjoyable and informative day.

The next free places I have available are on the workshops on Saturday 23rd
August or Saturday 20th September. If you wish to take part in either of
these workshops, you can let me know and I will reserve a place for you.

If you require any further information, feel free to contact me.

    Best wishes,

    Catherina McKiernan,
    Master ChiRunning Instructor.
