External Hard Drive - Problem - Guidance Required

Hi folks, 1st time poster on this side of Boards, but i'd be very grateful if somebody could help me out by pointing me in the right direction.

I have 2 external hard drives - A 200gb which i've had for around 2 years now and is big in comparison to my wee self powered 250gb I bought recently. The 200gb is still my main one carrying my most important information, photos, music etc. - and when I went to turn it on today - nothing happened. No indication it was on etc. etc. ...and panic set in

Took it town to PC World and my hunch was right - it was only the power adaptor that went on it thankfully - phew

Anyway I've been hunting the net for the same power adapter - and i'm still none the wiser. It's a Sunny switching adapter and the model is: SYS1298-1812-W3U.

It's a 5 pin connection with a middle straight pin - so 6 pins in total and obviously a plug on the other end, so surely it doesn't have to be the same model (Sunny) as it was before. Just as long as I can get my hands on something with 6 pins and a plug and the same voltage I'd imagine ? i'll be laughing.

If anyone needs a picture to help me out with my problem - i'll take a wee snap of it and post it on shortly.

I don't mind how much one of these leads will cost me - just as long as I can get sorted out ASAP :)

Hoping you guys can help me out.

    Cheers

If its going to cost more that €20 or you want it quickly... take the hard drive out of the enclosure and go get a new enclosure from Peats or Mapplin.

There is an Antec MX-1 External Hard Drive enclosure for SATA drives that takes a similiar power connector to the one you described.

They are about £40stg. If you look here: http://computershopper.com/reviews/antec-mx1-external-hard-drive-enclosure-review

However, this will only work if 1) Your Hard Drive is SATA and not standard IDE and 2) If you can open your existing enclosure, take out hard drive and re-fit into Antec.

Good thing about Antec case is that it comes with all accessories for fitting your 3.5" drives. I hope this helps.
