Every year we go to England for a a football match, been to liverpool and London for Arsenal and this year we're going to Newcastle. Basically 5 lads going over on a Thursday night and coming home on a Sunday.

Whats Newcastle like, heard the nightlife is pretty mad. What are the women like :D basically its just going to be a session, but is there anything else to do during the day?

Anyone know a good cheap central hotel?

Went over 3 years ago... didnt really know the place so the hotel we picked ended up being a little out of the city center... theres a good train service linking it with other towns e.g sunderland..

Nite life was pretty good...cant remember the name of the street but there was a row of about 3 or 4 clubs in the same street (its on a hill)

As for something to do during the day there wasnt anything else really but shopping...cinema...eating out.

There is a huge shopping center afaik its the metropolitain center. One of the largest in the Uk.. its a short bus journey outside the city..

Jury's Inn is a good hotel to stay, mainly because you can walk to all the night spots from there, it's quite close to the central railway station, it also is located in the gay district of newcastle, this may or may not be of interest to your group.
There's loads of pubs and clubs in the city center, the Bigg Market is an area famous for it night life, although it's not to everyone taste, cause it's very loud and brash, full of stags and hens, and looooaaaads of loose women, I personally love it!!!
The Quayside is very lively aswell, but what ever accommadation you go for, make sure it's walking distance from the city center, getting a taxi can be a pain late at night.
Oh! and behave yourself, some of the biggest bouncers, I've ever seen in my life.

Just came back from a weekend in Newcastle. Stayed in the Quality Inn Hotel on newgate street. This is not a hotel for the fussy. If it's luxury you're after, this is not for you. If you're going on the lash and just want somewhere central to have a kip (in a kip), this is ideal. In fairness though, the staff look like they'd kill you but are actually friendly and it's close to St. James' Park.
The Big Market area is the maddest place I've been to in a long while. Stags, Hens, loopers, police everywhere. Surprisingly little hassle though.
My advice would be stay in the quality inn (it's worth it for the experience alone), try out the big market and jump in a joe maxi to the Quayside when you want to go a bit upmarket.

How much did that cost you for the weekend?

Three of us shared a triple room and it cost STG£187.00 in total for 2 nights. Nice price when you divide it by three. Found eating and drinking out to be great value too.

"jump in a taxi to the quayside" you must have been legless it's a five minute walk!
I also stayed in the Quality Inn on one of my visits, Good location, but certainly not quality, but I wouldn't put you off it, and I think it's cheaper than Jury's Inn.

Fair point on the taxi journey. That happened us a few times where we piled into a taxi, told him our destination only to be piling out again two minutes later! We'll know better next time.

The birds are a bit like the hotel really. Great if you’re not fussy, easy to find and could do with a bit of a spruce up! If you couldn’t get your rock and roll there you’d want to give up altogether.

Great stuff, from what ive seen of the Geordie birds etc on TV they seem a bit slapperish which will suit just fine for a lads trip away!
