Normally this would go in the weather thread but since the mood of mass depression and despondancy about the gloomy weather in recent months I thought id share the good news.

Summers coming next week! Gonna get really warm (hot?) and sunny:D Expect temperatures to reach about 27C or more inland. Im so happy:D Now where did I put my BBQ?

27 degrees. That's pretty good for Ireland.

It's been summer here for a long time now, need a break.

You are welcome to have some of the humidity in Illinois. :/ Today around 30C. Wouldn't mind some rain, some this morning but not enough and even then it is still stuffy outside.

I was walking through Cork city centre one Sunday a few weeks ago and it was swelteringly humid. I was kinda walking alongside an American choir and I asked one of them what part of the States they were from. California. I said "oh I presume the humidity right now is nothing to you so?" to which she responded "actually no, it's killing us!" And then I remembered the dry heat versus humidity thing. Meh, dry heat and humidity both suck in my opinion - when they're really intense. I still hope next week will turn out as the OP says...

    Good point.

We have 14 degrees on Christmas Eve, sunbathing weather in late March and rain, thick dark cloud and dark evenings around the time of the "longest day of the year" (the past 3 "longest days" have been the most godforesaken wet and cloudy days of the year)

If Ireland ever gets a summer it is usually in August....i.e. Autumn.

And people wonder why this country is so disorganised? God himself cant keep to an evenly planned schedule when it comes to this place.

Could be some hefty showers with that if it develops the wrong way.

Oh and that's not the remains of Hurricane Bertha over Iceland by any chance?

Exactly what I'm planning on doing. Such a disappointing summer so far. Need some R+R and soak up some sun! Vitimin D baby!

The last time I spoke to my parents it was warmer in Wellington then it was in Dublin.

    It's winter here!

It made me feel better anyway. We're having a very mild winter but apparently the summers are proper so fingers crossed.

Hope you all get your summer next week!

Guy on the radio yesterday said "Temperatures will soar this weekend..." (pause) "to 20 degrees!" Eh, what? Also, RTE forecast earlier showed Mon and Tues looking alright, Wed onwards had a few rain clouds.
Yes I only look at the pictures, and yes I am a pessimist.

The hotel up the road from me has a sign up for its bbqs. It says "Summer is coming", inverted commas included, like they're mocking us or being ironic or something.

    It's bloody humid today.
