Limerick Tunnel

    This may be of interest to some, something different to do with the kids.

    Limerick Tunnel are having an open day on Saturday July 26th.A bus service will operate a Pick n' Drop Service from Shannon Rugby Grounds in Coonagh to and from the Limerick Tunnel Project Site.

    As happy as I am with Limerick getting a tunnel can anyone tell me why a bridge wouldnt of worked?

    Because officialdom wouldn't or couldn't agree to close the port and relocate to Foynes.

    Because Cork has a tunnel, and be damned if Cork are getting one over on us. The other reason is just a smokescreen.

    Some cool pictures of the progress on that site too. Anyone know if the target of 2010 is still on? I just noticed that the Waterford bypass have had the date pushed out from 2009 to 2010, adding a year to it.

    It's being built by Mulcairs. They are well known for getting jobs done ahead of schedule, so it would be fair enough to at least expect this to be on track.
