Charging iPod Touch from mains

I have a usb mains charger for my iPod which works fine - I tried using it to charge an iPod touch and it won't charge. I've tried using the connector that came with the iPod and Touch on the Touch and neither work. It charges fines when plugged into PC.

Anyone had a problem charging an iPod Touch?

Nope. I just bought a speaker docking station thingy for my IPod Touch which charges the ipod even when not in use which is cool. When I get home I just click it in to it and it charges away. Great for listening to tunes too I might add. Well worth the few bob in my opinion.

Yeah some of the dock connector to USB cables from older iPods dont work with the Touch or the iPhone, depending on the iPod gen that the cable came with. Hard to tell just by looking. The newer ones are slightly thinner and that is about the only difference. It bugs the crap outta me, I often try plugging a Touch or iPhone in with an older cable, without checking to see if it is charging, only to come back 2 hours later to see I used the wrong one and the damn thing hasn't charged at all :/

Sounds like a trick that Creative did with one of their ZenPlus(?) range that refused to charge unless plugged directly into a PC or their own expensive chargers, and not from a standard USB mains plugs. They had tied one of the data pins of the USB high(?) in their own chargers and the players wouldn't charge without that pin connected.
