Going to Scotland, do I need a passport?

I'm going to glasgow in a few days and of course I can't find my passport. I think I remember seeing before that you only need photo id to travel to Britain from Ireland. Is this the case or do I have to keep looking for that blasted passport?

i think you just need ID and kids need their birth cert for some airlines

Irish/ UK citizens do not require a passport or any other form of ID for travel between the two states.

However, if you are flying then you'll need some form of ID inorder to get into the airport and if you doing the online checkin then the airlines do require you to have a passport.
