There's 3 or 4 potential upsets in the first round.

Mark Walsh is 11/8 to beat Colin Lloyd, Lloyd is not having a good year and is a well known bottler under pressure, Walsh is a good solid and slow player where Lloyd is all about throwing fast.

Adrian Grey is 6/4 to beat Dennis Priestley. The menace has just recovered from cancer and isn't the player he was but Grey has showed some great form and nerve and is good value here.

Kevin McDine is 6/4 to beat Adrian Lewis, McDine had a great run in the grand slam last year and won't be rattled on his debut. Lewis usually does well in this competition but is showing very suspect temperment.

My outside tip is Wayne Jones to beat James Wade at 4/1. Jones is a very very good player who can beat anyone on his day. It's the last match of the first round so if you've made any money on the first 3 bets I'd have a tenner on Jones, solid player who doesn't get rattled.
