He's just sparked Al Seeger in a round with one hell of a right hand . Seeger is a natural Super-Bantamweight and has been stopped before(by the very hard hitting Daniel Ponce De Leon) but no one has come close to doing what Gamboa did a few mins ago .

Seeger was also coming in on short notice as Jose Rojas pulled out of a fight for the second time with Gamboa(wonder why ), this time just a few days ago .

Seeger has a ver good quick jab and Gamboa seemed to be dealing with it reasonably well, he was keeping his hands up and when the chance came to land , he took full advantage with a huge right .

I can't wait to see this guy in with Chris John, what a fight that would be .

The KO shot was ever so clean. I'd be more concerned however for Seeger's knee. Did you notice how he dropped from the shot?; his knee took a terrible twist on the way down!

I was actually concerned the way Seeger fell but if you thought that was a bad way to fall I don't know how he didn't injure himself .

that could have been nasty on Gevor's knees if he hadn't stayed upright .

Found this clip of the fight, all over very quickly! Have watched a few of Gamboa's fights now, he's been on another level to anyone I've seen him fight so far. I think the big names will all be keeping well clear for as long as they can.

What I like about him is that his opponents have been of a high caliber for a prospect and usually he fights naturally bigger guys and Kos them too.

Result inside, don't read if you intend to watch it.
All I can say is wow, seriously impressive. Gamboa that is.

No need for a spoiler inside the thread, if anyone wants to watch the fight without knowing the result they shouldn't be stupid enough to click on a thread titled 'Gamboa'

He was seriously impressive though. A very controlled performance against as big a Featherweight as you can get in Jose Rojas. Having seen that it's clear Gamboa won't suffer with his height and reach disadvantage if he moves up in weight, the only question is would he be able to take the extra power(I reckon so).

I expected him to be more disciplined than usual tonight seeing as this was his 'World title' shot, and he was. At times I was reminded of Roy Jones jnr in there, sure he could get the stoppage if he turned up the heat, but he's beating his opponent easy and the other guys corner/referee/doctor will probably stop it anyway.

Fighting someone so elusive will also stand Gamboa in good stead, but I don't think there's any real need to elaborate on the performance too much other than say watch it yourself. You won't be blown away, but you'll think throughtout that you are indeed watching a special fighter.

That's exactly what Gamboa is, a special fighter and I really can't wait to see him in against the winner of Chris John v Rocky Juarez II. I hope it's John as I think he'd give Gamboa a better fight.

Gamboa would probably get in at least 1 voluntary before he could fight the winner of that fight. I wonder who they'd match him with ???

John v Juarez II is scheduled for June 27th btw.

You hit the nail on the head, while Rojas is not the best by any means he is still a good standard of fighter and very elusive but it was all one way traffic, I too would liken him to RJJ, a lot smaller and lighter than him of course but he is big when he goes at his opponent. Its not often you see a fighter win every round at that level but he did it comfortably.

As I say, wow and I'm hugely impressed and its the first time I seen him fight other than some youtube clips.

I like Yuri but yet again the boxing world throws around another ridiculus
    "World Title."

Rojas is now 0-4 in title fights, so how the hell was this guy even
worthy of fighting Gamboa for a title?

Rojas was number 2 and Gamboa, number 3, yet the scores at the time of the
end were 10, 9 and 8 points all in Gamboa's favor.

Anyaw, Chris John is the REAL champ and he's the man to beat and if anyone can, Gamboa can. He hits harder and is faster and seems to be able to win.

His chin is yet to be really tested! Hey, did anyone think the stoppage
    was a bit premature?

Gamboa is quite open and at times, reckless. This could prove fatal
    against a good hitter

It was a mercy stoppage, he had no chance of wining and Gamboa was playing with him while administering a slow beating. The swelling to his eye meant he couldn't defend himself so well either.

It was a lot better a stoppage than Raul Martinez this morning, and Martinez had been down 4 times. Probably the first time I've seen a guy floored so much and think early stoppage.

The title in itself means next to nothing. There was pretty much no point in calling for an interim fight. The good thing is though it locks Gamboa in to fight the #1 man in the division.

My thoughs too. The actual beating he was taking AT the stoppage time was nothing heavy, but it was the accumulation and hopeless case Rojas was that did him in
