€6.06 is the legal minimum wage for employees under 18. The store are doing nothing wrong, even though they are being a bit scabby. When I was under 18 I always earned the adult minimum wage even though they could have paid me lless.

You might have a read of the following legislative requirements:

Working hours, time off and rest breaks for young people aged 16 and 17

Maximum working day - 8 hours
Maximum working week - 40 hours
Half hour rest break after - 4 1/2 hours work
Daily rest break - 12 consecutive hours off
Weekly rest break - 2 days off, to be consecutive as far as is practicable

If your sister is working over 40 hours, the employer is contravening employment law. It probably doesn't really help in this case unless you are concerned that she may be working too many hours, though she could approach the boss and tell them that, while she doesn't mind working more hours that she should, she would like a small payrise, even to the regular minimum wage.

This would hardly be a small payrise, rather a 43% increase.

They are taking advantage of the fact that she is cheap, but they are breaking no law. Presumaby it is a summer job and she will be returning to school and working less hours?

You bumped up a three year old thread earlier today with the same question: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=108158468

Maybe you didn't see my reply - you'll be getting minimum wage.
