Can anyone tell me if there are organised 'networking nights' for people who work in the media in Dublin? Or if there are particualar clubs/pubs where 'media people' socialise?
    Cheers

    Do you mean online media?

A lot of the agencies seem to do the circuit at IIA events, The IIA recently setup the Social Media working group as well.

Funnily enough my area is online media, but I was just thinking it would be a good idea to have, like a monthly schmoozing night where people from every of the media could gather for a session. Basically Journalists, Bloggers, Commercial photographers, Film-makers, EMarketers, PR people, Gamers, online Web/software developers, computer geeks etc. Just a knowledge sharing gig with plenty of booze thrown into it.
Is there anything like this in existence? Is there a market for this?

Don't think there is, my experience is that the industry in Ireland is so full of crap that this would only work with people who are willing to share and aren't motivated by their own vested interests.

Damien Mulley might be someone to contact, to point you in the right direction.

Perhaps, have a look at previous BarCampIreland events as well.

There was a webmaster meetup a few months back, and there is another one happening on Aug 9.
