I saw Ray LaMontagne performing on BBC4 last night. Twas absolutely delightful IMO. He was barely whispering into the microphone at some points.

I checked him up on wiki, apparently he only has two studio albums, with another being released this September.

Anyone got any opinions on him??

Ray Lamontagne is absolutely excellent, have both of the albums and a few live tracks, great stuff.

    Trouble - excellent song!

    Sampling is Highly recommended!

I find him dreary and dull. Trouble was massivley overplayed on the radio and i cannot stand the song. I also find most of his music blends to a travis-esque grey. There are many others doing what he does miles better at the moment.

I only have his last album, but have heard bits and pieces from it. I find him to be an excellent singer, and his music is great, very relaxing to listen to, also very bluesy influenced.

Have yet to see him live, but from what I've heard he's a very shy performer, but the music pretty much speaks for itself.

Ray LaMontagne is brilliant! He has such a powerful voice! I first saw him in The Village. I was right up the front with my pint rested on the stage. He just walked out, picked up the guitar, gave it a few strums and suddenly his voice just shook the place as he sang Burn.
Probably Trouble is his best one so far!

Definitely one of the greatest modern singer-songwriters in my opinion. You should check out this performances at Elvis Costello's Spectacle. Absolutely incredible!
