"wen i wer a lad" the only DJ that was anywhere near close to world class was

the one and only Mr. Mark Kavanagh.

Apart from that I can only think of one other who I only got to see twice he was a DJ called Francois he played in the waterfront and he was out of this world.

So, I've been out of the "scene" for a long time now so who today in your eyes is world class?

    do we have anyone?

people might disagree but i like dave clarkes mixing. in this day and age where a lot of people ar eusing ableton he still uses 12" and cd's and is constantly mixing andf chopping and sh1t. big fan.

james zabiela is imo the king when it comes to technical mixing abilities. has all the effects and capabilities of the cdj's and the pioneer effect units mastered. amazing to watch.

sasha. when it comes to track selection i think sasha is the man. many im sure wil disagree but i love going to see him every time he plays. and im old enough to have seen him when he was still using 12" and cds. a lot of people think he should go back to these mediums from ableton but i enjoy his sets as much now as when he was usin the odler methods. if not more.

with regards to irish spinners, most of the 515 will impress, im a big fan of robbie buttler.

japanese popstars i like too, seen them a few times and theyre mixing has always been top notch.

other djs i have seen and was impressed with their mixing, nick warren, satoshi tomiee, francois k, sebastian leger (before he went gay).. theres loads more but couldnt be arsed typin em all out. u get the general idea!

some cracking dj's in the south west.. mainly limerick and cork.. but since its not dublin nobody really cares.. most consistent dj's ever in ireland are greg dowling and shane johnson from sir henry's cork.. u gotta be good to hold a residency for over 12 yrs at irelands best club throughout the 90's..

Henrys was just legendary. I might not know everything about dance, I don't have decks (I have a wife), I can't sit down and have a long conversation about recent developments in the tech house scene or the latest innovations in the hardware, I haven't seen that many famous acts or djs in my time...but I can always say I used to go to Henrys in its prime.

SiSi (Cian and Cryril from 110th street) are definitely up there for me...
Have only seen Francois once, but it made a lasting impression,,,

Yeah it's the same Francois alright, unless he's taking the p*ss :D

Billy Scurry was a great DJ back then too, always loved his sets in the Temple of Sound. Himself and Johnny Moy always threw a good night when there was no other guests playing.

Only fair to claim David Holmes as ours too, another excellent DJ back in the day.

Dunno actually, never heard him live... may have heard mixes but don't recall any.

Warren K was (and could still be for all I know) an excellent DJ, I still rate one of his mixes in the top mixes I have ever heard.

    For me,Warren K(cracking mixer),Francois(a true maestro and genius,complex mind blowing techno tunes,none that weird ****),Ed Case(all rounder),Mick Walsh(Tune Selection)

I think Kenny Gardiner and Darragh Kelly are best DJs we have at the moment, maestros at old tunes, mixing, tunes and always have cracking atmosphere at their nights, all in the asylum and Olympic veign,
They rival Mick Walsh,Pressure,Warren K and anyhe oldskool legends or other Djs out there right now

Sunil Sharpe is the best in my opinon

I think Shane Johnson and Greg Dowling of fish go deep fame are class.

I actually think Darragh K is absoulutely ****. I,ve seen him many a time and every time I've seen him his mixing was shockingly bad. I also listened to one of his mixes that was posted on here and the mixing was pants. Just an opinion.

It's been a very very long time since I've seen Johnny Moy, but back in the day he was definitely one of my favourite DJ's. I remember he didi teh warm up for Darren Emmerson in the RedBox and had the place going absolutely bananas from the very beginning! I never had anything bad to say about his mixing really, but he certainly did know how to get the place cranking
