I was shocked and horrified about what happenned yesterday on the 41c bus to swords. First the driver put the heater on and it was so hot as i was sitting at the first bench downstairs and bus was packed. Went to him and told him to switch the heater off and without any apology he did it.

A foreign guy and a few people was getting off the bus and suddenly he just drive off and there was still people on the bus. Few people shouted to stop but he didn't and they had to get off the next stop. One of the guy told him that he should pay more attention and he said to the foreign guy to " **** Off". Thats was so rude from a bus driver who lacks customer service. Imagine if he had said that to an irish person, he will be probably be beaten up or call the garda. Some bus drivers think they are clever but they are only a piece of ****e.

Sounds like your manners aren't that much better than his, in fairness.

I agree, though, some of them can be extremely rude.

What does it matter if they are foreign or Irish its a bad attitude either way

I know its a bad attitude either way whatever nationality you are. But the guy and the woman just continue their way. Thats mean they didn't want any argument. And about my manners, if people treat me like ****, i will treat them the same.

Report him to Dublin Bus if you haven't already done so.

How exactly was the driver having the heating on treating you like sh*t??? I highly doubt he was doing it purposely to make your life difficult.

If you told me to turn off the heater and then expected an apology from me for merely turning it on, I would not only tell you to " **** Off", but would kick you off the bus too.

Not that long ago I had a somewhat similar experience to Scorpio, oddly enuf in his/her parish too....However it also involved a CAT......

An elderly lady boarded at the Skylon Hotel carrying a Cat in a cardboard box.
She was coming from the Veterinary Surgery oposite the hotel......

As I was driving an older model bus with those familiar long sideways facing seats, the woman of course perched herself and her pussy on the nearest seat to the door.
I`m still uncertain as to which of them was responsible for the pungent aroma which quite rapidly spread throughout the lower saloon but PUNGENT it was.....

The only option I could think of was to put the demister blowers on full blast in an attempt to get the stink dispersed...which was partially successful.....until I was approached by a young Man-About-Town complete with Blackberry who loudly demanded that the "Bloody Heaters" be turned off....

As he was making his "request" I noticed the horror stricken faces of the OTHER passengers who were at least having the worst of the fug blown past them.
However in deference to my sharp-suited Customer`s request I switched the blower off......

I managed to complete the journey to Dorset St,where Mrs Pussy slowly descended, with my head at a crazy angle to the open cab sliding window and the penny finally dropped that My Man was actually miffed by the NOISE of the blower during his very important Blackberry conversation...

I could have told (recommended) him to go upstairs (which as per usual was half empty/full) but since he was obviously of great importance I deferred to his great status.

I did`nt get a look at his horoscope but I get the impression he may well have been a scorpio....:o

(PS: I never recieved as many Thank you`s from departing passengers as I opened BOTH doors in O Connell St !!)

That is an extremly immature attitude. Why drag yourself down to the level of those you are complaining about? It makes you look silly and takes away any credibility that you may have had

    *shakes head*

Regarding the heating: If I am driving a bus I certainly wouldn't be impressed if a passenger "told me" to turn it off. I have regularly been requested to turn up/ turn down heating and I oblige when possible.

There are a few things you seem to overlook.

    1. Most passengers are dressed for the exterior and are frequently rushing about carrying shopping/luggage etc. They jump on a bus and then assume that it is too hot when the opposite may be the case.

    2. In wet weather with lots of passengers, the windscreen and drivers side windows usually steam up. It is often necessary to put on some heat throught the blowers to keep these windows clear. It would be unsafe not to.

    3. The driver is sitting beside a door which is constantly opening and closing and can be draughty. He is not rushing around like the passengers and can be much cooler. Under Safety, Health and Welfare legislation, he is entitled to work in an atmosphere with adequate heating.

I'm not for a moment justifying any rudeness just giving some points from the other side.

I wouldn't worry too much about him Wishbone, SickCert has rumbled this guy as a troll. Given the quality of the OP's posts so far on Boards, I would agree with SickCert.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 271 ✭✭scorpioishere

"Sickcert" know very well how they are at dublin bus that's why he is telling that i am here to upset the board. I dnt care at all because i have to show the public your true colors..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,004 ✭✭✭✭AlekSmart

I disagree with SickCert`s appraisal of Scorpioishere, although he/she may have somewhat brusque manner about them surely the board`s posters can make their own deductions.

Mind you,I admit to being a little overwhelmed by the general tone of the postings....
Initally being "Shocked and Horrified" then "Telling" the driver to switch the heat off, finding that many Busdrivers are "pieces of ***e" and then appearing to have a personal crusade to "show the public your true colours".

Kind of reminds me of the "Son of Sam" letters and come to think of it "Son of Scorpio" aint a half bad working title for a movie :)

So let it flow I say in strict adherence to the best principles of councilling :P

heard of a guy today whos a bit of an asshole, anyway got on the bus with a coffee in hand and was told by the driver you can't take that on here, if it spills DB will be liable. he argued with the driver saying that he was never told this before and that'd he'd paid 3 euro for the coffee, etc etc. the driver said drink it and get the next bus or bin it, and with that your man, took the lid off the coffee and spilled it on the floor of the bus and walked off.

    fecking disgrace that

How dare you infer that a bus driver is more likely to be beaten up by an IRISH person!
