    Joan O'Sullivan reports that new Dublin street signs are causing concerns for the visually impaired

    The scandal on this is that there was NO consultation with any interest groups

    Long thread on Motors;

    Objective 8 of the Sectoral Plan (Disability Act 2005) of the Department of the Environment is “To improve access of persons with disabilities to streets, pavements, footpaths, and street crossings, and access from public roads to passenger transport vehicles, through promoting an accessible barrier free pedestrian environment."

    This applies to local authorities, yet Dublin City Council breached it's own Implementation plan by not consulting anyone on these signs being erected.

    Ironically, the Dept of the Environment is advertising on these signs.

    Could I ask for support to have these removed by emailing:

    minister@environ.ie

    Ask him why this local authority is breaching the Sectoral Plan...

    also Peter Finnegan is the Access Officer in DCC

    Many thanks.
