Fantastic Contraption

I came across this puzzle game recently and I'm completely hooked on it.
Thought some of the people in this forum would enjoy it too.

    www.fantasticcontraption.com

You can save your contraptions as you go. Maybe you could post the link here to any interesting ones you've made.

My one bit of advice is not to spoil it on yourself by looking at some of the solutions before you've played that level. Persistence pays off and it's fairly rewarding when you do it just using your own imagination.

    Good luck!

Ah, the water is just like the wood in that you can use it to join items together but there's a very important difference.

Water connectors can pass through other parts of your contraption where was wood ones can't.
This is very handy for strengthening the frame of your machine for example by having criss-crossing connectors.
The wood ones are handy then if you want to rest other items on top of them like say for example if you're trying to build a catapult.

Here are two example that show the difference:

Apologies to those who are losing hours of the lives playing this by the way!

If you click on the red arrow in the top right hand corner you can go back to the main menu and pick whatever level you want from there and it gives you the number and name of each level.

You can also view other peoples creations for the levels which you have completed.

    Can't get past level 13(big ball).

    Oh dear jesus.

I struggled through to level 14 before I made an astonishing discovery.

YOU CAN MOVE THE ****ING OBJECT TO TRANSPORT AROUND THE WORKSHOP AREA

I've played through the last 14 levels without budging the object from its original place :o Would have made things a lot easier if i'd known that ...

I think there are 2 main ways to beat this one.

You can either build a tank type contraption with an angled backwards moving conveyor belt on its roof which and help shift the big ball out of the way while you slide the key block underneath.
Or... you could try to beat the ball to the goal....

I thought the toughest one was the 4 Ball one. I really overcomplicated it by trying to build a huge catapult that fired all four balls at once!
Does anyone have any interesting solutions saved?

I actually went for option 3. I built a caterpillar style thing to carry the block, climb over the ball and drop down behind it :o

Having a bit of bother with my 4 ball one at the moment. My conveyor belt system doesnt wat to work properly ...

Yeah, It took me ages to figure that out too. I went back and had a look at the previous levels and some of them can be done with only one or 2 pieces. The first level can be done without using any pieces at all.

I'm halfway through this one. Trying to build a caterpillar with a long tail with a back on it to try drag the balls along but to no avail.

That's brilliant: fair play to him. Such simple solutions when most of the time I make the most complicated monstrosities that blow up or just don't work

stuck on "higher and mission to mars . any one any ideas

On "Higher" I just moved the ball thing right up to the edge of the goal, built a platform underneath it that sort of shoved it upwards.

    Catapults FTW!

Quite a lot of them can be done with catapults to be honest.

Came across this game last week, took me 2 days to pass all the levels playing when I had time. Unpossible was the hardest and most satisfying to finish.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,053 ✭✭✭jimbling

wow, discovered this at about 3.45 yesterday. played until I left work at 6, getting as far as handling.
Went home, opened the laptop and didn't stop till 11 when I finally finished the last one.

For some reason I found handling to take the longest. Spent about an hour and a half, failed. Went and did tube and back and forth then returned to handling.... another hour or so until I got it done.

Unpossible was also extremely tough... but so so satisfying.

Thought u-turn was a bit easy for a finishing level. Should have ended at unpossible.

And I did all this without even considering making a bloody catapult
