A few iPod Touch questions...

    Hi guys,

I have just ordered a 16GB iPod touch off eBay for €300 delivered :)

I have about 3GB of music on my laptop. Most of it is MP3s I have copied from my friends' computers as we all like the same music and it is easier than burning CD's. However about 75% of it is not tagged. Is there a program that will get the song name, artist and album off the net and do this for me instead of me having to edit all the tracks manually?

    2. I would like to get an accessory pack of a car charger and mains charger. You can get them on eBay for about €3, they are €30- €40 in the shops. Will the ones on eBay be as good? I got a phone charger on eBay before and it worked great.

    3. I am off to Santa Ponsa next Sunday, how can I protect the iPod from sand etc? Are some cases better than others? My main fear would be sand etc getting into the USB slot.

    Thanks

    BPE

If you are using itunes and have broadband it will tag them automatically using someone like gracenote?

Are you sure about this? I have a couple of albums in my itunes library and it tells me that it cannot get the track names for material not imported via itunes.

I havent any tracks imported from itunes. All mine are either ripped from cd or downloaded from other sources.

Maybe my downloads are already tagged, I`m not sure, but for ripped cds it definitely does the job.

Yes there is no problem with it when you rip the cds via itunes. But if you transfer stuff into your library without names afaik it wont get the information when you ask it to.

iPod arrived yesterday and I am thrilled with it!
Immediately bought the software update from Apple and a load of Apps (I can now use my iPod as a strobelight and play Solitaire).

iTunes is great, soooo much easier to use than the awful Creative software that used to come with Zens... one program and it actually does what you want! Being able to buy high quality music videos and put them straight on the iPod is great too, rather than downloading poorer quality videos from YouTube and converting them.

I have hooked the iPod up in my car and it is great. Now I don't have to burn CDs any more, I can just make playlists. The only problem is that songs bought from iTunes don't sound good in the car- the bass gets distorted. But all my other songs sound great.

So yeah, after 3 terrible Creatives that broke for no reason I am now a converted iPod fan. :)

Easy solution to your bass problem. First of all, turn the EQ off. Secondly, set the iPod volume to about 60% of the way and adjust it on your radio instead... let the Touch be the source... not the amp :)

The only thing I am having trouble with so far is the FM transmitter for the car.

I got it as part of a set, the brand is iSound. It came with a charger for the house, a USB charger, and a car charger.

Basically it works fine most of the time except for the bass. If there is any sort of bass in the song it gets distorted and hissy. I have tried tuning it to different frequencies (usually 87.6) but no luck. The rest of the time it is fine, just the bass. I have tried chaging the EQ and lowering the bass on the car stereo but this hasnt really helped. Can anyone help?
Can anyone recommend a different frequency maybe?
The range on it is 87.6 to 107.9

    Thanks

Have you checked your itunes settings before transferring music over?

You need to keep it flat to avoid any distortion.

FM transmitters are very hit and miss in my experience, in fact more miss than hit. Your signal could be slightly week and thus showing up more on the bass but I`d check all setting on itunes and indeed ipod touch first.

Sorry, someone already gave you the same advice.:)

Fm transmitters just dont cut it in my book.
Try getting a radio with an Auxillary in installed in your car.
100e for a sony and its easy to fit yourself in most cars.
Otherwise get an incar ipod adaptor (ice link) but then your restricted to just ipod products.

    The choice is yours.
