    Wireless-G Broadband Router WRT54G

Anyone using the above router with Ps3 and media server?

Everytime I connect using the laptop or the ps3 I kick the other one off, driving me mad, have tried manual ip address, auto ip, everything I can think of, the router just doesn't want to have the two of them connected at the same time, even had one wired the other wireless.

Any thoughts other than getting a new router?

Try a firmware update if you haven't already. I have WRT54GS and it runs a 360/Wii/4 laptops and and desktop downstairs plugged in and with my DS and one of the lads PSP's connected without any problems.

I think its probably the firmware as I updated the firmware early on and it fixed a bunch of issues.

You can hack third party firmware onto the WRT54G router. There are howto's online.

Might try that instead of getting a new router as the third party ones were designed to fix some problems with the interface etc.. of ther router. Worth having a look anyway.

Had a quick look there and seen this
Or perhaps you want to assign specific IP addresses to specific network cards in the DHCP server that runs on the WRT54G. Can't do it with the base firmware.

    Sounds like it could help,

    Cheers..

Seems the Ps3 and the WRT54g don't get on, and the ps3 keeps resetting it.

Solution if anyone comes accross this again.
Type in your routers IP in the url bar (if it's a Linksy probably 192.168.1.1). Then go to Administration. Towards the bottom will be the option to disable or enable UPnP.

To make a static IP address for your system you have to go to manual when setting up your PS3s internet connection. You then input all the numbers yourself instead of having the router assign an IP address to your system. You will need to know your DNS numbers for this unless it gives you the option to apply them automatically, as I remember it doesn't though. You can get the DNS numbers from your router if you go to status at the top of your routers menu. If you need more help than this setting up a static IP message me.

To set up DMZ you go to Applications and Gaming in your router menu then click DMZ. Then all you have to do is input the IP address you gave your PS3 and click enable.
