I´ve been looking into boost/bluesy overdrive pedals and came across these two guys:

    Marshall BB2 55€ @ thomann

    Ibanez TS9 122€ @ thomann

These are purely solid state circuits where probably the most expensive component are a couple of op amps which may even share the same package. The rest are caps and resistors, and likely their circuit designs will be similar. The Marshall has a tank solid metal casing while the Ibanez has what looks like plastic to me. The BB2 has two modes, standalone boost and distortion. The TS is only a boost itself.

Now how can one of these guys double and surpass the price of the other and more importantly, how can it be more expensive than my first amp costed??? Maybe because the TS has this legend surrounding it? And remember we're talking Thomann all the time, don't even want to think about a bricks and mortar shop.

Alright, enough moaning and groaning for today! Gotta play my justly priced Edwards... :D

your right the ts is dearer because of it's name I suspect, on another note could you tell me about your edwards I,m being told that I am barking up the wrong tree with the gibsons what is the difference? other than cost and where can I try these.

Now i happen to have both of these pedals, and all i can say is...the reason the ts9 is more expensive is because it is, by far, the best overdrive i have ever used. I hate the BB2, think it's awful, the tone control snapped off mine! and it just sounds pretty rubbish. (harsh i know, i've just built up a hatred for this pedal over the years).
The TS9 has a full metal construction. And has a magical tone, not the fizzy mess that is the BB2. It's in a completely different league. Now i'll agree that for what it is, a pile of caps resistors on a board, it's a rip off, but the tone you get makes up for it!

If you want bang for your buck, then I suggest a Ibanez TS7, cheaper yet than the Marshall, and still kicks ass. I use a modded one of those babies, and I haven't enough good things to say about them.

Edwards is a branch of the larger ESP. They make replica guitars in Japan with great quality at great prizes. Stock pickups are Seymour Duncan, wood is great, we're talking Japanese build... The Les Paul models are the most famous, I have a left handed and it's amazing.

You can see the full range here, it's a Japanese shop that sells overseas:

I checked it on the Thomann web. Can you say anything about the two modes TS9 and Hot I think)?

Not really, I just use TS9 mode exclusively. Can't remember the last time I even flicked on the hot mode.

Bought a premodded one from here, cost under €60 including shipping, so well worth it. I'd recommend 'em.
