My sister has an Acer Aspire 3000. It won't power up at all. No lights nothing. She bought a new ac lead. The light on this lead is on so its ok.

When she presses the power on button on the laptop nothing happens its the same when she tried using it with the battery.

Sorry about the limited information this is all she told me.

I've suggested removing the hard drive and putting it in a usb caddy so she hopefully can access her files.

I am at a lost how to help her with the laptop not working.

As anyone got any ideas what could be of help to her?

    Thanks inadvance.

Does buying a new AC lead mean exactly that or does it mean buying a new charger ? If she only replaced the lead powering the transformer/charger then the charger cant be ruled out just yet . The light would only indicate power going into the transformer . If it's a new charger I'd assume it to be okay .
Has she tried removing the battery and running the laptop that way ?

A longshot but there's a button / sensor which powers off the laptop when the lid is closed. If that's stuck in the lid closed position the symptoms would be as described. (Happened to me last month).
