1000 euro for 15 nights for the three of us !!

    Heres how.

Transfers El Mar services prebooked online €70 euro.

Luxury apartment below €500 (repeat business)

    Portugal two years ago.

Booked flight with aerlingus.com €300 for the two of us.

Hotel in Cabanas 3 nights €180

Hotel in Carvoeiro 9 nights €400

Yes, there are good deals with travel agents, but most of the time I find booking flights and accommodation independently online, works out cheaper, and you get a better standard of accomodation.

Went to north of Spain for ten days.
Flew with ryanair for €50 and stayed in pension's(b&b) for around €150.
So ten days in Spain for €200.
Bilbao and San Sebastian are class and you still got the sun and beaches with out the crowds and high prices.

I went to crete for 380, place we were was a bit of a dump and nothing near it. Was bordering on feeling ripped off. Sorry to hear about your experience.

    Cheapest holiday...
27.99 for 3 Days in Torremolinus there in June!!!!

Managed to nab free return flights on Ryanair so only had to pay 20 euro taxes and 8 euro booking fee.
Family were already over there on holiday so surprised them and Kipped in there hotel for free!!

A bit of a short stay but you cant go wrong at that price!!

    :)

If we're talking package holidays, went on one to Kos 5 years ago, cost €300. Accommodation nothing spectacular, but was grand overall.
As for actual cheapest holiday. Could be a week in Prague (8 years ago though!). Travelling from Trier in Germany, spent about €160 the whole week, including travel and accommodation.
Or 2 weeks in crimea (4 years ago)- $4 a night accommodation, about €50 for train from Minsk.

wow i really was ripped off bad!!

Anyone have any recommendations on places to go next year??

We've already done the "stay out all night drunk" holiday so we want something new.

Most importantly it has to be cheap!

239e for a week in Fuerteventura, flights and hotel included. You could have paid an extra 50 quid for half board but we didn't. Wasn't bad at all - hotel was nice enough, nice pool, cool staff. I think we got a good deal there.

Friend has offered us two weeks at his apartment in cyprus this year or next for a very reasonable price.Cleaning up the place before we go home is part of the deal (which we would do anyway ) saving him paying a cleaner £50 a week to do same . If he gets people to clean his accomadation up good before they leave, he saves lots over the year .May not get over this year but defo next

Booked the two weeks and 3 bed apartment with Budget travel flew out in April for €400 PP and got the internal flights with EgyptAir. if you select Egypt as you home country almost all of the internal flights are no more than €20!
Egypt is an amazing place but I don't recommed spening too much time in the real touristy areas like Sharm El Sheikh as you could be anywhere in the world!

    +1!!:)
Was in Egypt there in June and had an amazing time.
Booked two weeks bed and breakfast in Luxor in a 5 star hotel (no.1 hotel in Luxor on trip advisor) through Budget travel for around €550 PP and also booked internal flights to Cairo for dirt cheap with Egyptair.
Had an amazing time. Sooo much to see and do in Egypt from the pyramids, tombs and temples to hot air balloonin and snorkelin in the red sea.
And it also so cheap over there!! Could easily get a 3 course meal for 2 with drinks for under 10 euro. It was a class holiday, so different from your typical binge drinkin sun holiday and would recommend it.

You should never judge a holiday on price alone - would you buy a car just because it was 'cheap'?

You can only really judge whether a holiday is 'cheap' by taking other factors into account. You may get what appears to be an inexpensive holiday but that's not much benefit if your accomodation is beside the local dump, with no swimming pool, 10 miles from the nearest town/beach etc., without public transport, no pubs/shops/restaurants in the locality etc.

(Inexpensive is a better term - cheap means 'of poor quality' to me ;))

yea we flew ryanair shannon to beauvais & booked a cheap hotel(must admit it wasnt the best) but if you are willing to stay away from the very centre, you could get a bargain on 1800 hotels, ebookers etc. we stayed near latin quarter & used metro which is so handy. You just have to be flexible as to dates- i just go whenever is cheapest.

I found the same, the first too times I was there, I stayed around Grenelle, but the hotel was expensive and not good. The last 2 times we've been we have stayed in Montparnasse, near Alesia, hotel is cheap and clean and very big for Paris standards!! I think it was €65 a night for us both.

I always find hotelclub.com very good and always check reports on tripadvisor before I book anywhere.

Funnily enough it was Crete for me as well which was the cheapest holiday ive had, if i recall correctly myself and the ex got a week in 3 key accommadation in Piskopiano for about €220 each, and i only spent about €400 or so over the course of the week which was very good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,461 ✭✭✭Queen-Mise

200 for two, flights to Prague, 400 euro for two people in a 5 star hotel, bed & breakfast for 7 nights. flights & accommodation both booked through ryanair.

Got a week in Gran Canaria May 07 for e340 for flights and accomodation. Resort was a nice bungalow in a modestly sized restort in central location.

Went back through a different agent in May 08 (friend booked) and paid e550 euros for a really crap aparthotel in a lousy location. I found a site called www.roomsnet.com which appears to do a lot of the Spanish resorts, but a of these Spanish resorts really have been hit by huge hikes in the price of flights. Reason for price hike I'm guessing is that we booked 6 months ahead the first time but only 4 months ahead the second time.

The moral of the story is book yourself and well in advance.

The ironic thing was, that the first time was the holiday from hell for personal reasons, while the second time was a total blast. Who you go with and who you meet counts for a lot more than the hotel or resort.
