    Hi, quick question
    I have a Medion PC with a Microstar MS-7091 motherboard currently with 2 PC3200 512mb dimms.

I want to upgrade but I'm seeing lots of different variants (incl dual channel kits)

I want the cheapest and don't think i need the benefits of dual channel so was going to go for 2 of these 1gb units

    http://www.dabs.ie/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4RHH&PageMode=1&cl=4294963687

Can anyone confirm that this will be ok and comment on value? Cheers.

go to www.memoryc.ie make sure you select ireland as your region and run the "Memory configurator" at the top of the page. This will tell you what you can use, and then give you the option to buy directly from that site. They are very very cheap and quick to deliver.

hi thanks for reply. nothing comes up for Medion (even though its in the list) or Microstar...

dabs seems good value for €60 incl delivery - cheaper than memoryc..

MSI is short for Microstar International.

thanks guys. i didn't know crucial had a store - 2gb (2x1gb) works out at €67 incl delivery so for an extra €7 it is worth it i guess to get crucial guaranteed for my motherboard rather than generic stuff from dabs.

    thanks again.

i can't se anything looking anything like good value at memoryc.ie for PC3200 memory, their cheapest 3200 memory is 32€.

it looks like you've got 4 memory slots and since you're going for 2gb and are probably unlikely to upgrade your ram again in the future without upgrading the rest of your PC, I'd recommend 2 of these dual channel kits from ebuyer.

I know you said you didn't think you'd need a dual channel kit, but if you have the option without paying any extra money then why not go for it anyway?

EDIT: damn, too slow. was reading something else before i posted. :)
