Calzaghe losing in his farewell fight in cardiff!

cant see him doing it, why step up a level in your last fight!

If he does it (and is successful) i'm guessing few will still reckon it was a step up in level! To be honest, i'd be sceptical as to whether joe would do it if he thought it a step up. If he does it, i would imagine he's confident that he's handles better than kelly before and is still capable of handling someone of kelly's quality.

I'm undecided on Kelly, but he looks the real deal from what i've seen so far (admittedly very little besides the two Taylor fights) and would love to see this fight happen.

It would be a step up as kelly is near peak and a good fighter so if he wins it would be a good win and the 1st time calzaghe has fought a decent name in there peak.

pavlik is 2 weights lighter at the min which is a pity, but if he puts on some good weight he'll blow calzaghe out of the ring!
the super middle weight and light heavy weight divisions are so poor unfortunately..

Lacey was the next big thing until Joe retired him. And Kessler was also in hi peak.

The weight different is not that much between the two. Joe is hardly the biggest light heavy but Kelly is rather big for a middle. Great fight for Joe to cement his legacy.

Lacey was made famous by joe trying to look like he beat someone worth talking about, he's been **** since and thats because he had to step up in standard-lacey is mr average and always was, and kessler lacks stamina and is only a potential boxer, nothing more-still a step up for joe in reality.

I agree about the weight in a way, Legacy! another thing that comes from the calzaghe camp! they,ve been spoon feeding this to the press for years-legacy and lacy are calzaghe's 2 favourite words-as it stands his legacy will be an unbeaten fighter who nobody knows how good they where as they never fought the best.

its well known im not a fan of his-this forum actually turned me against him with all the nonsense thats talked about joe! before i just thought he was sloppy and never really looked at who he boxed and when he boxed them, now i do and dont rate him as he's unproven and still sloppy.

also for those who believe that joe has knock out power-on his 45 fights he's only had 1 official KO against a bum, the rest are TKO's, basically he slapped them till the ref jumped in, stoppages but not KO'S.

I was just thinking about Pavliks reign as Linear world middleweight champion.
Locket and Mora/Williams dont really cut it as top opponents for the worlds number one but i suppose Lockett was justified due to 3 tough bouts previously, and a considerably smaller opponent would be let slide if it fills a gap before an Abraham or Calzaghe bout.

In fairness to Joe he is responding to the criticism for fighting Jones (which i still maintain is no easy assignment at this stage of his career) by saying that he will take on Pavlik if thats what the fans want

I wouldn't rule out the old man in that, not a bad fight at all .

For some odd reason I was just thinking about if these two fought last night. What if Hopkins were to beat the man that beat Taylor twice. Seeing as Calzaghe beat Hopkins would that then mean Calzaghe is the best of the lot.:D

You seem to always have excuses for potential opponents of Calazaghe....If Calzaghe fought Pavlik, broke both his hands in the second and knocked out Pav in the third...You'd still think of something to deflect from Joe's win:p
