    Hi all,
I am considering buying a strat and was looking at different options. May be its obvious, HW etc. But whats the main difference between US and Mex/Jap Strats. Are the Bodies & Necks basically the same thing ?. The HW, Pickups etc are better on US strats.

    Thanks for your help.

Are you going to limit yourself to just Fenders?

Yeah, i think i want a Fender strat of some sorts, i kno wthere is really good quality start type guitars out there so i might look at them as well. What iwas getting at was, if bought a good Mex strat and over time upgarded HW, Pickups and it ahd a good set-up how would it compare to a US Standard.

    Thanks

It's very hard to answer that question. The MIA strats supposedly have higher "quality" (i.e. less likely have a serious fault?) and better attention paid to the finish and fretwork. After a few years if the guitar is worn in and has not had a problem - is there any significant difference? I don't know.
I'd say a MIA strat is more likely to hold its value though.

Theres endless debates about this on the web. I'd say find one you like playing, as the necks are all different. Then upgrade that. Some Mex strats already have US parts.

Lots of strat reviews on that site.
