Getting PR up - experiences?

    Hi folks,

    I'm interested in hearing about what has worked for people in improving their page rank.

    As anyone who runs a website knows, you are constantly bombarded with emails from SEO "professionals" link directories and link blasting software.

    But what is effective? What has worked for people. How do you get the best bang for your buck.

    Does anyone have experience of professionals out there who have delivered for them? It's not so much SEO I'm focussing on, but link populatiry and page rank.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
