    Sucks.

I know I haven't been doing too well recently but a player last night pointed out that I had a -17% ROI, yes, -17%. My poker tracker was acting up last night so I couldn't check the exact figures but the guy is probably near the correct figure, maybe this game isn't for me? Would rakeback even cover this terrible figure to make me breakeven?

Btw, I play $20 Turbo SnGs.

im no expert on stts, but i know the variance is massive in them. how many stts is the -17% roi over? ie. is it a signigicant sample size or just short term variace?

I plaid 150 SnGs on PartyPoker and my ROI was 0% :D
I was adviced to move to other place where re is less then 20%. I presume if I wasnt paying 20% on PartyPoker my ROI would be +...

I moved no to Titan (iPoker) only because I wanted to try sharkscpope HUD wich is free for 6 months if you deposit $50 in TitanPoker.
This thing shows ROI statistics for players on the table. I plaid only 6 games on Titan won 1 lost 5 :-D but my point is that there were players with lets say 1K plaid games and ROI > +40% ;-) More of the players are with -ROI
I play $5+.5 normal, not trubo..

Hopefully will manage to beat the game there...

That -17% figure is over roughly 500 SnGs.

The variance on Turbo SnGs can be pretty sick, .... BUT -17% over 500 is very unlikely to be just variance imo - I'd say it's clear enough that you have some pretty big leaks in your game.

But it's no reason to be discouraged, learning how to beat SnGs is much easier than learning how to beat decent cash games. That's basically because SnGs have pretty much been solved as a game - once you get into any sort of high blind levels (which you do quickly with Turbos) - there is a mathematically correct decision that is fairly obvious once you learn about things like ICM (Independent Chip Model).

You can check out your stats on http://www.sharkscope.com. If you haven't already you should consider reading Colin Moshman's SnG Strategies http://www.twoplustwostore.com/twoplustwo/IP.php?type=Category&ID=11&productID=152. That offers a basic strategy (that is slightly too conservative in the opening stages in my opinion) that should allow you to beat $20 SnGs with relative ease.

There's loads more stuff on the internet if you want to get into it that will help you as well - SnG power tools for example http://http://www.sitngo-analyzer.com/, but Moshman's book should get you off to a good start I'd say.

    GL with it!

currently in a downswing myself. not cashed in my last 9 attempts:mad:
however my confidence is still high in my s'n'g strategy so i hope it will even itself out. basically i agree with jim cannon just have good strat and you'll do alright.

Q for other stt players is it really impossible to maintain an r.o.i of between 12-20%. ive managed this over 700 games so far but i find it increasingly difficult?
