    Hey fellas,
I'm currently looking at buying an Archos 605 mp3 player. I came across an ebay seller based in Dublin selling This, Now the prices seem to come to about the 170 180 mark for the 80gb refurbished version, where as the 30gb NEW model costs around the same. Now here's the question, to risk buying a refurb and stand to get more spec for less cash, or go the "safe" route and get the new version?

Get the 80G. I have a 40G AV700 and it's just too small a disk, would like to have an 80G or bigger disk in it.

Is the 30G new model you're thinking of on eBay or from an retailer? If it's eBay, there'll be feck all warranty anyway so might as well go cheap and refurb.

    Thanks for the quick reply!.
Yes i think i'm going to go with a refurb, 30gb storage on a player primarily for videos is a bit on the low side.
    Cheers

I heard bad things about the 80GB 605. The 4GB,30GB,40GB,160GB seem to be okay though.

I've bought a good few refurb items, and never had a problem. In many cases it's a very minor problem that has been corrected - sometimes just a firmware update.

Thanks for all the replies lads, i'm bidding on a few to see if i pick up a bargain. Well, you know, one at a time, dont want 2! The seller has good feedback, and if the price is right i'll go for it.
    Cheers,
    Alan.

I usually prefer refurb over new but I also expect at least 20% off in regards to price :)

Just to let yee all know, i went refurb in the end and paid under half the online retail for the "new" version. I have yet to receive it, but hopefully all will go well. Cheers for all the info.

Could you post back when you get it. I would be interested in what condition it would be in.

I have bought an archos from them before and had an issue with the screen, they were a bit slow to reply to me initially but after that I had no issues I returned it and they sent me a new one.
