Super Smash Bros Mélée - Who was your character?

Whilst Brawl is pretty good and everything, I just don't think it's as good a game as melee competitively. So I'd like to hear from some old school gamers here. I heard there was a melee tournament recently in Dublin which I'd have liked to have attended but was on holiday :(

My character: Peach or Mario depending on my opponent. I'm pretty good with both but have been playing Mario for longer. Peach I've probably gotten better with now with her awesome downsmash, f-throw and f-air. Turnips are so class too for forcing the shield and either running a or grabbing.
I also love her taunts and winning phrases. Man, nothing better than beating my mates and her going "OOOOOOh Did I Weeeeeeeen????"

I also play a pretty good Shiek and C.Falcon.

Link usually. Shiek was good too. And Marth. I loved it when it would go into sudden death and trying to get the first hit.

Had a game after clubbing last night and we were all like "This is so much better! F*ck Brawl!"

I think the melee is better than brawl argument is just the same bull**** as the CS 1.6 to CS source argument. The people who take it too seriously don't want to adjust while everyone else who plays to have fun just gets on with it and enjoys the updated game. In my opinion Brawl is a big improvement on Melee.

Heh you got me there. I hate Source. Brawl is nowhere near as bad as Source though. It's not like we hate Brawl, it's pretty fun and I'll play the hell out of it. It's just not as fun competitively imo. Tripping is a pretty retarded addition.

I'll give Brawl a bit more time but I think if we're gonna have tournaments, we'll always put Melee on because there's just that skill>all thing.

Source however is retarded and signalled the death of CS to me.

Brawl is a suped-up version of Melee, so I can't see it being worse than Melee. Now if you had no option but to use the Wiimote as acontrol, I can see it being worse than Melee.

It's a lot slower and there's a lot less emphasis on the fencing like dual where the first person who slips up has just found themself in a 70% combo and hopefully a spike.

It's not worse. It's different and less skilful.
