Electronic Water Softener

I live in a Hard Water area. I would definitely get a salt based Water Softener except we have a an added problem that the mains water supply pressure is really poor. Sometimes the pressure is OK. Other times it is poor and occasionally it is so low we only have water from the mains tap in the kitchen and the tank runs dry as the pressure will not send the water upstairs. Some salt based Softener requires 20 psi and others require 2.5 bar (35 psi) from the mains.

Does anybody use or know if the electronic softeners work or are any good. These only attach to the existing system and don’t reduce the pressure.
